The key points
- 1Amount to pay
The total you have to pay. It's the biggest number on the first page. - 2Due date
The last day to pay. After that, late-payment interest may appear on the next bill. - 3Billing period
The months this bill covers. It usually comes every 1 or 2 months. - 4POD code
Your meter's code, starting with IT. You need it to switch supplier, complain or connect power. - 5Your plan
The plan's name and whether the price is fixed or variable. If variable, the cost can change every month. - 6Usage
How many kWh you used. «Stimata» means the meter wasn't read: an adjustment (conguaglio) will follow. A self-reading avoids it. - 7Cost summary
What you're paying for. «Materia energia» changes most between offers: that's where you can save. - 8How to pay
Use this code to pay at the post office, a tobacconist or in your banking app. With direct debit it pays itself.
Tip: if your supplier allows it, send a self-reading («autolettura»: a photo of the meter numbers through their app or website). You'll pay for what you really use and avoid surprises.
If you can't pay on time, contact the supplier straight away: you can often ask to pay in instalments. If you don't pay for a long time, supply can be reduced or cut off.
